In Our Time is a live BBC radio discussion series exploring a wide variety of historical topics, presented by Melvyn Bragg, since 15 October 1998.

In this episode, Bragg and guests discuss the history of coffee, from its origins in Ethiopia, to its part in the slave trade and its social impact as caffeinated customers stayed awake for longer and were more animated and this helped to spread ideas and influence culture.
